Beginner Tips

Direct answer

Use Safe Rooms, deliberate inventory choices, map sweeps, and fight-or-avoid decisions to protect scarce resources and missable progress on a first run.

A safe first-run loop

  1. Enter every Safe Room. Save before a major transition, move situational gear into storage, and rebuild the carried loadout for the next route.
  2. Read the map before leaving an area. Use uncleared markers as a prompt to sweep the current chapter while backtracking is still possible.
  3. Finish the interaction before spending ammunition. A locked mechanism, evidence connection, or arena device may be the real objective.
  4. Fight what controls the route. If an enemy can be passed safely and guards no required interaction, conserving ammunition may be the better choice.
  5. Carry roles, not every gun. One dependable weapon, one answer to close or heavy pressure, ammunition, and healing are more useful than a packed display case.
  6. Restock before a boss door. Use the nearby supplies and create a save rather than entering with an unfinished inventory sort.

Protect missable progress

The radio and crate achievements explicitly span one playthrough. Check Collectibles before a chapter transition. Do not rely on a later chapter-select cleanup route.

When combat feels wrong

If ordinary fights consume most of the carried ammunition, lower combat difficulty, change the weapon role, or route around optional enemies. Repeatedly firing into a closed boss weak point is not a substitute for its arena mechanic.

Return to the guides hub, compare weapons, or review difficulty.
